Samuel Bartmess, MD Anesthesiologist

Dr. Samuel Bartmess is an Interventional Pain Anesthesiologist certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology with subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine.

He graduated with honors in research from The University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He completed his Anesthesiology residency and Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. 

He utilizes the multidisciplinary approach to pain medicine to provide a comprehensive care plan for his patients. He counsels his patients on medications and interventions in conjunction with physical therapy and pain psychology. Dr. Bartmess evaluates and treats neck pain, low back pain, and other musculoskeletal pain disorders using fluoroscopically guided and ultrasound guided injections. In addition to epidural steroid injection and radiofrequency ablation, Dr. Bartmess performs an array of interventional modalities to help diagnose and treat pain conditions to optimize functionality of his patient population.

Dr. Bartmess understands that getting an injection can be stressful and strives to create a welcoming clinic environment to facilitate a positive experience for his patients. His commitment to serving his community was exemplified when he volunteered deployment to the COVID ICU frontlines during the winter of 2020. He is passionate about medicine and is happy to be a part of the St. Louis medical community.
